Reflective Liquid Crystal Spatial Light Modulators

The BNS signature product family consists of a complete line of liquid crystal on silicon, reflective spatial light modulators (SLMs). With both XY and linear formats now available as standard, BNS addresses most active development areas including laser beam steering and programmable phase masks. An SLM is a device that modulates light according to a fixed spatial (pixel) pattern. SLMs have an expanding role in several optical areas where light control on a pixel-by-pixel basis is critical for optimum system performance. SLMs are typically used to control incident light in amplitude-only, phase-only or the combination (phase-amplitude).

Direct-drive Liquid Crystal Devices

BNS now offers direct-drive liquid crystal technologies. These devices typically have a liquid crystal layer between two glass substrates with wire leads for electrical control. Several Optical Shutter products are offered as standard products including devices with high contrast ratio, high transmission, and high speed. In addition, BNS offers liquid crystal technology customized for use in many applications as Polarization Rotators, Beam Attenuators, and Variable Waveplates.
